Parent engagement
Background
We recommend the following common principles of parent engagement:
- Parents can have an important voice in improving the health and welfare of their children while at school and can be encouraged to meet with district administrators and teachers.
- There should be greater outreach to parents to join school-based mitigation committees, such as ways to ensure that cafeterias are safe, that pool testing is improved, that all children be sent to school with an adequate supply of masks.
- Parents, teachers, and district administrators can work together to develop optimal publicity in advance of school-level vaccination clinics to ensure the greatest participation.
